About Wellington Rugby

Wellington Rugby Football Union, as it was in 1879 when the Union was first formed, is all about fostering and growing the game of rugby in the Wellington region.

137 years on and times have changed and the challenges are quite different! So it's important that Wellington Rugby recognises the needs of its participants and volunteers to ensure a great rugby experience is delivered, so as to build a lifelong love of the game and retain more people in rugby.

Whether you are a player, coach, parent, administrator or volunteer, our website is designed to inform, educate and entertain you.

We welcome your feedback, so please let us know if we are on the right track!

Wellington Rugby is Governed by a Board of Directors, led by Chairman Iain Potter, which delegates authority to a Club Rugby Board (Member Club delegates) to oversee amateur rugby and Junior Rugby Advisory Board to manage junior rugby.

These boards are supported by an executive led by CEO Steve Rogers whose responsibility is to lead and administer rugby in Wellington at both the community and professional (Wellington Lions) level.
