The Club Rugby Subcommittee are pleased to present:

  • The confirmed 2017 Grade Structures including confirmation of which divisions teams will be participating in to begin the season, and start dates for all grades.
  • The CRSC's Season Structure Calendar

These two documents remain living documents and are subject to change at any time due to further grade entries or withdrawals.

The CRSC are additionally pleased to announce that overall Grade Entries into 2017 competitions are at 109 teams, up one from the 108 teams that finished the 2016 season. The CRSC remain optimistic that there will be a further two or three teams that may join the competition in early-April.

Of particular note in the attached is the substantial growth of the First Grade division. This is twofold, with an increased number of teams entered (three new teams), but also due to the Rugby Board decision to combine the First Grade and Reserve Grade Division One competitions.

The new First Grade Division Two competition has two teams from last year's First Grade competition (Avalon & Tawa), two new teams to WRFU competitions (Wainuiomata & Stokes Valley B), and a further four teams who have been moved from Reserve Grade Division One (Johnsonville Cripples, Marist St Pats Internationals, Poneke Ruffnuts & Upper Hutt Rams Pirates).

Additionally the CRSC are excited about the number of competitions that will begin their season with a knockout tournament. Not only does this double as an extended period of grading to ensure that the best teams are playing Division One footy, but also allows clubs to build for three weeks until their respective first round competition begins.
