Covid-19 update for clubs

|
News

Following Saturday’s announcement by the Government regarding COVID 19, Wellington Rugby management has continued to monitor the situation and ongoing dialogue with NZ Rugby to understand the implications for community rugby. We appreciate this is a very dynamic situation which is constantly changing.

The latest advice for the community game is as follows:

Wellington Rugby will be postponing all Game Development Workshops including Rugby Smart, Small Blacks, Coach and Referee workshops until further notice.

All team and group-based rugby trainings are to be cancelled. Whilst not explicitly required by Government, these measures will help to minimise the risk of person to person transmission.

This position is to stay in effect until April 18th, or until further notice. With the advice that this pandemic will last far longer than weeks, the proposed start date of rugby will continue to be reviewed and on-going advice provided in due course.

We will continue to closely monitor further developments and provide updated advice and announcements relating to community rugby as they come to hand.

In the meantime, you can also find more information regarding rugby’s response to COVID-19 on the NZR website or via the Government's Covid-19 website.
