Jubilee Cup enters the business end

|
News

It's a crucial round ahead in the Bartercard Jubilee Cup, with very little points separating the top sides. It's a big weekend for Norths, Wainui and Petone who are desperate to emerge out of the bottom half of the table. It'll also be interesting to see whether Tawa can maintain their momentum, following their upset win against OBU.

The Ed Chaney Cup (Premier Reserve) competition is hugely competitive. OBU continues to lead the way, following closely by Petone, MSP and Tawa. The match of the round sees Tawa host Petone.

In the Victoria Tavern Trophy, Norths are giving Ories a run for their money with only 1 point separating the sides on the table. The two sides face off this weekend in what should be a quality game. Petone continue to lead the women's second division competition- the Senior Women's grade.

It's a key round in the Les Mills John E Kelly Memorial Cup, with competition leaders Tawa playing Paris Memorial Trophy winners Petone. The Vic Calcinai Memorial Cup, the match of the round sees Johnsonville host the Upper Hutt Rams.

Jubilee Cup

Norths v Hutt Old Boys Marist

These two teams head into this encounter after very different experiences last weekend.

HOBM will be disappointed by their lack of discipline and inability to kick their goals against MSP. They'll be determined to play to their potential this weekend.

Norths are a physical side who showed plenty of composure to beat Petone last week. Expect Norths to run and tackle hard, led by their impressive second-five Perry Hayman.

Wainuiomata v Marist St Pats

Wainui must convert their opportunities, after creating plenty of chances against Ories last weekend. Expect the home side to resort to their traditional game, utilising their powerful ball-runners. Watch out for winger Nash Fiso-Vaelei, who appears to have the X-factor.

This is a big match for Marist, as they try to sneak ahead of OBU on the table. MSP have Andrew Wells to thank for their thrilling victory last week, following his 28-point tally. They'll be relying on another big performance from their in-form fullback.

Old Boys University v Oriental-Rongotai

OBU will back themselves to return to winning ways at home, following their upset loss against Tawa. Watch out for their flanker Daven Candy, who is the equal leading try-scorer in the Jubilee Cup (alongside Brandyn Laursen) with five tries.

Ories deserve a lot of credit for their hard-fought win against Wainui last week and they'll be tough to beat. Ories are tough on defence and their first-five Hayden Whelan ensures they convert most their opportunities.

Tawa v Petone

This is a key match for both sides, particularly Petone who are yet to secure a victory in the Jubilee Cup. The away side have been unlucky not to have secured a couple of wins this season, following close defeats.

Tawa are also on a high, following a confidence-building victory against OBU. This is a big game, as they try to sneak into the Top-4.

Hardham Cup

Johnsonville v Upper Hutt Rams

The match of the round. The Hawks will be delighted with their recent results and they are only two-points behind competition leaders Upper Hutt. Johnsonville have been great to watch, they play a great brand of rugby and have pace out-wide.

This is an equally important match for the Rams, as they look to stay ahead of Johnsonville on the table. The Rams have been strong this year, with plenty of talent throughout their side

Paremata-Plimmerton v Wellington

Paremata-Plimmerton will be desperate for a better performance, following their big loss to Poneke. The Axeman will also be desperate for a win, following a challenging start to their campaign.

Poneke v Avalon

Poneke are starting to find their form, following a 53-7 thrashing of Paremata-Plimmerton last week. The proud club have had a challenging year and they'll be expected to beat the Avalon at home.

Women's Rugby

In the Victoria Tavern Trophy, it's the match many have been waiting for as Ories play Norths. Ories have continued their great form and they'll relish a tough match against an in-form Norths side. Finally, OBU host MSP.

In the Second Division competition, Poneke play Tawa and Petone play Paremata-Plimmerton.

Colts Competition

In the Les Mills John E Kelly Memorial Cup, OBU Green host Ories while Tawa play Petone. In other matches, Norths play HOBM and Paremata-Plimmerton play MSP.

In the Vic Calcinai Memorial Cup, Johnsonville host the Upper Hutt Rams and Wellington play Wainui. Finally, Kapiti host Avalon.
