Junior Rugby Cancellation for Saturday 15 August

Following consultation with council and facility authorities, WRFU can regretfully confirm that all junior club rugby is cancelled for Saturday 15 August.

This decision runs parallel to those made by other sporting codes and provincial unions around the country, and we can assure you it has not been made lightly. WRFU share the disappointment that the community will experience, although the safety of our players and the rugby community is paramount.

Regardless of the Government’s announcement at 5:30pm, the decision to cancel all junior club rugby for Saturday 15 August is final.

Please note that this does not set a precedent and we will keep you updated in respect to any decisions regarding future weeks of junior club rugby. We remain hopeful that we will be able to resume junior rugby in future weeks, even at Level 2, and have already started devising safety and match management plans to that effect.

WRFU wish to reiterate that no final decision on senior rugby will be made until after the Government’s announcement at 5:30pm.
