Premier Men and Women's matches to take place, with all remaining grades postponed
Issued to WRFU Stakeholders on Friday 14 August 2020, 6:38pm
Firstly, thank you for your patience the last 48-72 hours. Following this evening’s announcement by the Prime Minister, we are pleased to advise that some Rugby will take place tomorrow under Level Two restrictions.
The decisions made by WRFU haven’t been made lightly but given we haven’t had experience of Rugby in Level Two we want to ensure we get it right this week before returning to all grades next Saturday.
Grades taking place with alterations to fixtures (
- Women’s Rebecca Liua’ana Cup
- Men’s Swindale Shield
Grades postponed this weekend:
- Harper Lock Shield (Premier Reserve)
- Paris Memorial Trophy (Colts)
- JC Bowl (Under 85kg Restricted)
- Mike Copeland Cup (Reserve Grade)
- Presidents Grade
No decision will be made on the status of these postponed games until next week.
All Matches Spectator Free
To give our participants the safest environment possible we are asking for all matches to be played spectator free.
We will shortly be sharing the attached image on our website and social media and ask all Clubs either post this or share from our channels.
100 People Bubbles
To achieve 100 participant bubbles each Club will be permitted to bring 45 people to their games this weekend. Key Club contacts have been asked to provide a list of their 45 by 9am tomorrow morning as part of their Event Plan (NZR requirement) for signoff.
The other 10 people will be reserved for match officials and WRFU representatives.
More detailed information for tomorrow will follow later this evening. In the meantime please share the message within your networks about the grades playing and alterations. One of our Community Team will be in touch with each club shortly (if not already) to answer any initial questions you may have.
On behalf of WRFU we sincerely thank you all for your patience and in advance for your co-operation.
All the best for the matches this weekend.
