Wellington Māori 2021 Representative Programme and Call for Coaches

Te Upoko o te Ika Wellington Māori Rugby are proud to announce their 2021 Rep programme.

Senior Men

With this programme Wellington Maori can promote players, coaches & managers to express their skills. 

For the men it starts with the Horowhenua-Kapiti Heartland team who will be in their final preparation game for the Heartland Championship. 

While playing two Festival Cup games against the Wellington Centurions & Samoans, they will meet three Māori teams in Taranaki Māori, Tasman Māori and their final game against Canterbury Māori will be defending the Tirakatene Shield. 

U18 Boys

Wellington Māori are excited to playing in the Hurricanes Youth Council U18 Boys competition for the first time. 

The team will play three round robin games, then a finals day in Levin to complete the small programme.

U18 Girls

The most exciting news is the U18 Girls programme being run for the first time in many years. 

They will play a local tournament involving Horowhenua-Kapiti U18s - a great opportunity for our young wahine.

The “Te Tini a Maui” Central Region Māori tournament will be held in Ruatoria on 30 October 2021 to help celebrate the Horouta East Coast Rugby Union Centenary. 

Te Upoko o te Ika aspire to take their three teams to thek tournament. 
 

With the programmes announced, Te Upoko o te Ika also call for Head Coaches for each of these teams.
